Psalm 119:8

8 Jan

I will keep your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me! -Psalm 119:8

How precious to you is God’s presence? I ask.

In what, instead, do you bask?

Turn, I urge, to the task that He asks.

Word Meanings

keep: guard, observe, give heed, keep watch and ward

statutes: “that which is established or definite, an appointed portion, a task, a defined limit, a bound, an appointed law, ordinance” -Gesenius

utterly: as far as, even to, until, up to, as far as (of space, in combination-from…, as far as, both…and (with min. from), of time, of degree), perpetuity of time, eternity, for ever

forsake: leave, loose, forsake, depart from, leave behind, let alone, abandon, neglect, apostatise, let go, to be deserted, “to loosen bands” -Gesenius
